1959-60 Federal Duck Stamp Artwork
Artist: Maynard Reese (Circa 1959)
For the 1959-60 Federal Duck Stamp, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service paid tribute to retrievers and their role in waterfowl conservation with this painting of perhaps the greatest retriever of all time: King Buck. King Buck, owned by Mr. John Olin of Olin/Winchester, finished 83 national series out of a possible 85. To this day, no other retriever has ever completed more than 62 successive national series. This artwork represents the only time that the feature illustration for a Federal Duck Stamp wasn't a duck.
